Privacy Policy
Last Updated: December 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how Mault, Inc. (“Mault,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and handles information when you use our products and services, including the Mault VS Code extension, the Mault.ai website, APIs, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
Overview
Mault is designed to provide governance and integrity enforcement for AI-assisted software development. Core analysis and enforcement are performed locally within the user’s development environment wherever possible.
Some features require limited data transmission to support authentication, billing, diagnostics, analytics, and optional AI-powered functionality. Mault does not sell user data and does not use user code to train machine learning models.
Information We Collect
1. Code and Project Data
- Core governance and integrity analysis is performed locally within the user’s editor.
- When certain features are explicitly invoked by the user (including AI-powered analysis or architecture visualization), Mault may temporarily process small, relevant code snippets.
- Code snippets are:
- Processed in memory only
- Request-scoped and discarded immediately after use
- Not stored or retained by Mault
- Not logged
- Not used to train machine learning models
In some cases, code snippets may be transformed into semantic embeddings to support search, architectural analysis, or visualization. Raw source code is not stored, and embeddings cannot be used to reconstruct original code.
2. Usage and Diagnostic Data
Mault may collect anonymous, non-code usage data to improve reliability, performance, and user experience. This may include:
- Feature usage events
- Performance metrics
- Error and crash diagnostics
- Extension version and runtime environment metadata
This data does not include user source code, file contents, or repository data.
3. Account and Authentication Data
If you authenticate using third-party providers (such as GitHub, Google, or Microsoft):
- We receive limited account identifiers necessary for authentication
- Credentials are handled by the third-party provider
- Mault does not store user passwords
4. Payment Processing
Payments and subscriptions are processed by Stripe, Inc. Mault transmits limited customer information (such as name and email address) to Stripe solely for payment processing and subscription management.
Payment card details are entered directly into Stripe’s secure payment forms and are never transmitted to or stored on Mault servers. Stripe’s handling of personal data is governed by its own Privacy Policy, available at https://stripe.com/privacy.
AI-Powered Features
- AI-powered features are optional and only process data when explicitly enabled or invoked by the user.
- When used, limited code snippets may be transmitted to third-party AI service providers for the sole purpose of performing the requested analysis.
- Code snippets are processed ephemerally and are not stored or retained by Mault.
- User code is not used to train machine learning models by Mault.
Mault does not control the internal processing of third-party AI providers beyond contractual and API-level restrictions.
